Description

The Information Technology Specialist manages the server, client, and application installation, and the design and support for virtual and physical systems. The Specialist also conducts instructional services for client-side networks and technology solutions.

The annual salary for this position is $57, 500 and may be up to 5% higher depending on relevant experience, education, and certifications when compared to others doing substantially similar work. While all offers are compliant with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, there is no guarantee that an offer will be above this value.

Job Duties

Essential Functions

  • Provide clients with technical support with campus networks, hardware, and software.
  • Troubleshoots localized network outages.
  • Maintains, adds, and changes user accounts and information.
  • Coordinates the installation and maintenance of computers.
  • Manages support applications such as MS office, browser software, or automation software.
  • Develop instructional material to assist clients with the use of assigned equipment and network services.
  • Consults with clients regarding hardware and software needs, determine project needs, and assess project outcomes.

Additional Functions

  • Works independently with little supervision or as part of a team.
  • Communicates effectively with students, colleagues, and others.
  • Interacts professionally and respectfully with students, colleagues, and others.
  • Assesses individual and department work processes and recommends improvements.
  • Complies with State Fiscal Rules, State Board policies, System and College protocols, and departmental procedures.
  • Obtains and maintains proficiency with required systems and equipment.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student and employee information as required.
  • Completes all required compliance training within the established timeline.
  • Serves on committees and other groups as assigned

Experience

  • Two or more years supporting PC hardware and software, including installation, troubleshooting, and analyzing problems.
  • Two or more years in a medium or large multi-network environment.

License/Certification

  • CompTIA A , Network and Security certifications preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge of MS Office and Adobe products and operating systems.
  • Knowledge of configuring LANs and wireless systems, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and similar protocols.
  • Able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Able to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Mobility around campus.

Travel

  • To Durango campus
  • Infrequent to Pueblo campus
  • To conferences inside or outside of Colorado.

Schedule

  • Core hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.
  • Infrequent weekend and evening hours may be required.
