Job Summary: Eldora is looking to hire a few hard-working enthusiastic individuals to join our summer trail maintenance crew. Do you love the outdoors, spending most days on the mountain in the thick of the forest eating your lunch leaning up against a tree Do you enjoy seeing wildlife at sunrise taking in the mountain views Are you a strong hiker that possesses backcountry skills and wants to utilize them at work We are looking for team players that work well together with others, possess strong work ethics, can be self-motivated and can follow directions well with very strong safety practices.
Responsibilities:
This job consists of multiple duties during our summer months to provide a better skiing experience to our customers in the winter months such as mitigating ski runs, cleaning up glade areas for more open hazard free skiing and riding.
This requires operating chainsaws and brush cutters on very steep uneven terrain.
There are other duties such as running slash through a chipper, replacing trail signs, and or helping snowmaking with bigger projects.
Follows all company safety policies and procedures, actively contributing to a safe working environment for self, coworkers, and guests.
All employees are expected to support Eldora’s corporate responsibility commitment to protect the environment by participating in our Sustainable Transportation Program. This includes choosing alternative transportation, carpooling, using the employee shuttle, and avoiding onsite parking on weekends and peak days. These actions help reduce Scope 3 emissions, lead by example, and ensure adequate parking for our guests.
Must be able to work weekends and holidays as required by resort operations.
Qualifications:
High school degree or equivalent
Must be 18 years of age or older to operate company vehicles
Has valid US Driver’s License & ability to meet company standards for MVR.
2-5 years of chainsaw experience required, professional arborist a plus
Skills in maintenance of small engine equipment (cleaning air filter, sharpening chains, replacing spark plugs keeping your equipment clean and in safe operating condition)
Experience working with and around heavy equipment which may include front-end Loaders, excavators, log skidders, backhoes, dozers, etc.
Rigging experience, a plus which may include slings, chokers, come along, chain hoists, working with a winch and familiar working with overhead loads
ATV four-wheeler and UTV experience preferred but not required.
Ability to operate a four wheel drive work truck on uneven steep terrain in a safe manner (experience towing and backing trailers a plus but not required)
Basic First aid and CPR certifications or knowledge of is a plus but not required
Physical Requirements:
This is very physically demanding and requires some skill with operation of tools in adverse conditions.
Can work outside while standing and walking in a high alpine, high altitude environment for up to 10 hours
Can perform the following activities constantly: walking, using hands to finger/feel, reaching with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear
Vision Requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus

Compensation: Proposed hiring rate of $19 hourly, depending on experience.
Benefits: This is a seasonal position eligible for season pass for employees/dependents and privileges at several other resorts. Several discount programs (i.e. food & beverage, retail/rental, tickets, etc.) also available.
