Overview

The Natural Resources Land Stewardship Leader position provides a unique and rewarding seasonal employment opportunity for the Spring - Summer of 2026.

Individuals in this position will conduct invasive plant management and other restoration duties as needed on federal, state, county public lands, rights-of-way and private property within Larimer County. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge pertaining to native and non-native plants, desire to work outside in the back-country, initiative to work unsupervised, and is physically fit. All those hired will receive on-the-job training.

These are full and part time positions, typically working approximately 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Expected to last 6 months. Schedules may vary between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and are subject to change based on weather conditions. These positions may be eligible for medical benefits and are located at 5450 Arena Cir Loveland, CO.

Responsibilities

What you'll be doing:

  • Identifying and mapping noxious weed infestations using GPS.
  • Mixing, loading, and applying herbicides in full compliance with product labels.
  • Operating, maintaining, and repairing spray equipment.
  • Keeping accurate records and entering data into computerized databases.
  • Educating the public on weed laws, procedures, and policies, and providing guidance as needed.
  • Coordinating and working with volunteers.
  • Engaging with park visitors and private landowners.

What we're looking for:
  • Experience in vegetation management using Integrated Pest Management (IPM), including pesticide handling and application.
  • Ability to operate trucks, trailers, ATVs, UTVs, and spray equipment.
  • Coursework in biology or physical sciences is a plus.
  • Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers.
  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid State of Colorado Driver's License.
  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a Colorado Pesticide Applicator’s Qualified Supervisor’s License.

  • The ability to obtain a Colorado Commercial Pesticide Applicator's Q.S. (Qualified Supervisor) certification in at least one (1) of the following categories: Industrial & Right-of-way, Forest Pests, Turf Weeds, Ornamental Insects, or Ornamental Diseases preferred
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.
