ABOUT THIS POSITION

Summary:

Do you have a passion for sharing your craft and teaching with the next generation If you have extensive experience in communication information and technology, we would love for you to join our family of exceptional instructors. The successful candidate will teach career technical courses within the rapidly evolving information and communications technology field. The core of the program is the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) series of classes. As computer network security has become a major focus in the industry, course content will reflect this emphasis as well as Cisco and CompTia certifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

  • Teach 15 credit hours per semester and maintain 5 hours of office time per week.
  • Work independently, as well as in collaboration with colleagues, to develop innovative curriculum which meets the needs of our diverse population of students
  • Working knowledge and skill of up-to-date industrial trade principles, methods, and techniques
  • Teach classes in any of the following CIS disciplines Python (Programming; Cisco Networking/Cybersecurity; Hardware Repair, Cloud Computing) and current industry certification from Microsoft, CompTIA, AWS, Cisco. etc.
  • Determine program needs, and maintain program budget including purchasing and cost control
  • The successful applicant will successfully interact with students, business and industry representatives, other educators and educational institution representatives, and the public in a professional manner
  • Assist in recruitment, advisement, placement, development of cooperative work experience opportunities for students and follow-up of students
  • Serve as representative of the department by participating in committees, task forces, and events at the campus, college, and/or state levels
  • Excellent organization, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Utilize our learning management system, Brightspace D2L
  • Advise students, maintain student files and grades
  • Coordinate industry engagement with local employers for advisory committee, internship, and other industry specific needs
  • Perform all responsibilities and instructional duties in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as CMU Tech/CMU policies and procedures
  • Ensure the maintenance of appropriate approvals & accreditation, maintain, and develop the curriculum in step with industry and state requirements
  • Applicant will perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Associates degree in communication technology and information, or IT with a commitment to pursue additional degree(s) and/or industry certification(s)
  • Minimum of 4,000 hours of experience in information and technology trade in the last 7 years (2000 hours with bachelor’s degree or higher) in the following:
  • Knowledge in and of 4 or more of the following: Cisco Academy, mobile application development, web development, software development, networking, database management, cybersecurity, server administration, systems analysis, cloud computing, project management, or other IT-related skills included in the program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in related field
  • College teaching experience, preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in teaching or working in networking preferred
  • One or more Industry certifications in CompTIA A , Cisco networking, or Microsoft networking, preferred, AWS, and/or TestOut

Salary:

$57,000-60,000
