Job Title: Bicycle Mechanic Level 1

Job Status: Seasonal

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Compensation: Proposed hiring rate of $19.50 to $22.00 , actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.

  • Benefits: This is a seasonal position eligible for season pass for employees/dependents and privileges at several other resorts. Several discount programs (i.e. food & beverage, retail/rental, tickets, etc.) also available.

Job Summary:

A basic understanding of a bicycle is required. Able to name specific parts on a bicycle but not necessarily understand the inner workings of all parts on a bicycle. Must be able to lift a bicycle into a bike stand and racking. Will be required to set guests up on rental bikes in a timely manner. This includes a bolt check, shifting through all the gears, setting proper sag on suspension, and adjusting saddle height. The mechanic must have knowledge of how to adjust each of these specifics in a professional and safe manner. 1-3 years of bicycle shop experience is recommended.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Repair, service and maintain the bicycle fleet as needed by replacing and fixing broken parts.

  • Take ownership of all guest situations, yet recognize when to escalate to the next supervisory level. “Own the Zone”

  • Develop an exceptional working knowledge of the RTP point of sale system and its effective utilization in maintaining an efficient operation.

  • Clean, fold, merchandise and sell retail products to promote sales goals

  • Actively promote a sales culture through upselling to meet designated sales targets

  • Animate the work experience and seek continuous improvement to ways we service the guest (internal & external)

  • Work closely with the supervisors to ensure a culture of teamwork, best practices, and peer-to-peer support.

  • Present professional appearance and behavior at all times.

  • Assist in rental duties as assigned.

  • Assist in retail duties as assigned.

  • Help with opening and closing procedures; cash handling, making the store ready for business

  • Consistently maintain and monitor bicycle maintenance log

  • Have a broad cycling knowledge, able to build a new bike in box without help, able to set up tire pressure, front suspension, rear suspension pressures, adjust shifting, adjust derailleur hanger, set proper seat heights and thoroughly clean/lube rental bikes and drive trains.

Guest Service Duties:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to our guests at all times.

  • Repair assist guests with outside bicycle equipment as needed and charge appropriate amount for repairs.

Preferred Experience and Special Skills:

  • Minimum 1-2 years’ working in a bicycle rental location required

  • Minimum 1-2 years’ as a bicycle mechanic or equivalent work experience within the industry preferred

  • Have a broad cycling knowledge, able to build a new bike in box without help, able to set up tire pressure, front suspension, rear suspension pressures, adjust shifting, adjust derailleur hanger, set proper seat heights and thoroughly clean/lube rental bikes and drive trains.

  • Minimum 2 years’ working in a guest-facing, customer-oriented position preferred, not required

  • Shimano, SRAM, Fox, and Scott certification preferred, not required

  • Strong communication and organizational skills required

  • Computer proficiency required to learn additional computer systems quickly

  • Strong working knowledge of Copper’s RTP Point of Sale system preferred, not required

  • Retail experience preferred, not required
