POSITION SUMMARY

Cultural Arts Instructors must have a positive attitude and be well versed in subject matter for instruction. This position must have strong knowledge in the following: hand building, slab and coil construction, slip casting, sculpture, glaze technique, and kiln administration, including loading/unloading kiln and firing projects for all ceramics classes. This position is responsible for inventory of program supplies and restocking as needed for class. Curriculum must meet the needs of the population in which it is marketed to. Instructor must be dependable, flexible, and able to adapt material to meet the needs of participants attending the class, including various levels of expertise. Must complete and follow the Englewood Parks and Recreation Education Policies and Procedures.

The list of examples of work is not intended to be all-inclusive. They establish a flexible, functional base from which the incumbent operates. They may also be modified with additions, deletions, or changes required to obtain organizational goals and objectives.

  • Must be responsible and punctual.
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of subject areas and arrives prepared for lessons.
  • Presents art instruction in a positive, professional, and motivational manner.
  • Implements creative, interactive, and engaging teaching methods.
  • Communicates in an enthusiastic, warm, and friendly demeanor
  • Must enjoy working with the older adult population, including varying levels of expertise.
  • Maintains record of class attendance and reports to the Recreation Supervisor
  • Reports all concerns or rescheduling to the Recreation Supervisor.
  • Attend occasional special events to promote classes and connect with community.
  • Instructors are paid for scheduled class time when in attendance.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with groups of people, communicate clearly and effectively and collaborate as part of a team.
  • Must follow and understand all City of Englewood Parks and Recreation Policies and Procedures.

    PREPARATION AND TRAINING

    Any combination of Art education and/or experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and physical abilities necessary for excellent job performance.

    HOURLY PAY RANGE

    $17.47 - $26.21/Hourly Pay Rate

    This is a part-time position.
