Position Summary

This position is responsible for leading the fleet delivery operations for their assigned Distribution Centers. Drive operational excellence, safety, and compliance across the Prime Source distribution network. This role will partner with Wolf Logistics and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless transportation and distribution performance, while achieving targets in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Talent. The position combines strategic leadership with hands-on operational management, focusing on process improvement, equipment optimization, standardization, and talent development. In addition, they will support the Director of Fleet Operations and the department as a whole in special projects, strategic planning, technology roll outs and other assigned tasks. This position will provide additional band width for functions existing above the traditional expertise threshold of the Fleet Operations Manager role

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Performance Management

- Lead daily execution of fleet operations to achieve and exceed performance targets in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Talent.
- Hire, coach, and develop Regional Fleet Managers, and other operations personnel.
- Utilize scorecards, KPIs, and performance reviews to drive accountability and improvement.
- Foster a high-performance, safety-first culture across all sites and teams.

- Form strong relationships across functional divisions to create a culture of cooperation and collaboration.

Fleet Operations Oversight

- Manage the daily operations and oversight of regional fleet and driver managers across assigned locations.
- Assess equipment needs (power units, vans, trailers) and develop detailed specifications to meet distribution demands.
- Collaborate with vendors to procure and maintain fleet assets.
- Ensure full compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations, safety policies, and company procedures.

Process Improvement & Standardization

  • Work with Director of Fleet Operations and other stakeholders to implement continuous improvement initiatives across fleet operations.
    - Ensure compliance with standardized procedures and promote adoption of best practices across all sites.
    - Lead cross-functional collaboration to implement rapid, sustainable change in operations.

Financial & Strategic Accountability

- Work toward achieving operational and financial goals as set by the CEO, COO, and SVP of Transportation and Logistics.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without sacrificing safety or service quality.
- Partner with sales, logistics, and supply chain teams to ensure alignment with business and customer needs.

Training & Development

- Provide leadership training for DC Managers and Fleet Managers.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, safety awareness, and operational excellence.
- Support succession planning and talent readiness across all operational teams.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 8 years of progressive leadership experience in fleet management, distribution, or supply chain operations.
- Strong knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations, warehouse operations, and process improvement methodologies.
- Proven ability to lead multiple locations and large, cross-functional teams.

- Experience with P&L management and budgetary processes.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or KT problem-solving preferred.

Experience and Education Required:

Required (R) or Desired/Preferred (D)

(R) Read, Speak and Write English;

(R) College Degree or minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in transportation management

(R) Understand balance sheet and income statement and ability to prepare financial budget and proformas

(R) Ability to travel

(R) Proficient with PC and Microsoft software applications

(D) Mechanically inclined

Working Conditions:

Primarily working in an office environment. Must provide own transportation.

The work schedule is determined by the needs of the business unit.
