Description




Boulder County Community Services Department is seeking to hire a Bilingual BEST Family Navigator. The Bilingual BEST Family Navigator is an IMPACT Partnership position housed within Community Justice Services BEST program, a division of Boulder County Community Services. The position will serve identified families where the youth is involved with the juvenile justice system and other partner agencies including Department of Housing and Human Services, Clinica, School Districts, the courts or Public Health. The Family Navigator serves youth and families in need of resources, linkage and support.

This is a Grant Funded, full-time benefited position that will work Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 4:00pm. This position will work at the Boulder County Justice Center. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is exempt.

Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.


Hiring Salary Range: $67,068.00 - $81,834.00 Annually


Tentative Hiring Timeline:

  • Phone Screening: April 2nd
  • First Round Interviews: April 8th
  • Second Round Interviews: Week of April 13th
  • Language Proficiency Test: Week of April 13th
  • Reference Check: Week of April 20th


New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month (Must not have been employed at Boulder County during the 12 months prior to re-hire date to qualify). Boulder County offers bountiful benefits, including pension contributions.

Examples of Duties

  1. Assists clients in articulating needs and requests to professionals working with them
  2. Supports clients to take steps to achieve goals
  3. Supports client to take personal responsibility, self-advocacy, etc.
  4. Assist in building community connections
  5. Offers education and resources
  6. Works with individuals who are seeking assistance to understand their needs and provide information and link them to appropriate services
  7. Maintain relationships with providers to stay updated on services, resources and processes
  8. Assist with navigation of Boulder County services (knowledgeable of resources)
  9. Communicate with staff / community partners
  10. Provides feedback to professionals and systems how to better support family’s’ needs
This position will serve 2 roles:
1. This position will have initial contact with many families as they first enter into the juvenile court system. This position will assess for basic need support and act as a system and resource navigator for the family. The point of contact may be through the Juvenile Assessment Center, or Court appearances for youth who appear on a referral. The Family Navigator will help to identify any basic need support the family may need and provide information about how they can access the resources. They will also provide the family with an overview/orientation of the juvenile justice process and IMPACT partnership.
2. This position will have a caseload of 8-12 families that are involved with at least one IMPACT Partner agency. This person will act as a family navigator for the family throughout the length of their case with Boulder IMPACT services or as long as Family Navigator services are required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of

  • High School diploma or equivalent and at least six years combined paid or unpaid experience in a criminal justice related position or a related field such as child/family development, education, mental or public health, social services, etc.

Additional related education may count towards required experience.


BACKGROUND CHECK & FINGERPRINTING:

  • A job offer is contingent on passing a background investigation with fingerprinting


BILINGUAL SKILLS:

  • Applicants must demonstrate English and Spanish fluency at the time of the pre-employment screening process. Spanish language proficiency will be determined through standardized verbal/verbal and written demonstration.
    • Additional compensation will be provided based on the use of bilingual skills.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicants must pass a pre-employment physical and drug test
  • Must pass a TRAILS background check prior to hiring.
